Cookies

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer by the websites you visit. They are widely used in order to make websites work more efficiently and improve the user experience, as well as to provide information to the owners of the site. By storing and using information on your website preferences and habits, we are able to make your website visits more productive.

Your web browser can choose whether or not to accept cookies. Most web browser software is initially set up to accept them. If you are uncomfortable with the use of cookies, you can manage and control their use through your browser, including removing cookies by deleting them from your “browser history” (cache) when you leave the site.

We use the following cookies:

Essential cookies. These are cookies that are required for the operation of our website. They include, for example, cookies that enable you to log into secure areas of our website and to use online forms.

Analytical cookies. These allow us to recognize and count the number of visitors and to see how visitors move around our website when they are using it. This helps us to improve the way our website works, for example, by ensuring that users are able to find what they are looking for easily.

By continuing to use this site, you are accepting our use of such cookies. These cookies make advertising and communications more relevant to you and your interests, and further help us to improve the site.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who we share your data with

We share your email address with Mail Chimp – a third-party service provider, for information and marketing purposes only. Please note that you can unsubscribe from this service at any time, through the newsletters that you may receive from us.

How long we retain your data

We do not allow visitor comments on our site, at this time. However, when we do, if you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

We do not retain the data that you input in the contact form beyond the time we respond to your contact requests.

We retain the data you input in the registration form for as long as it takes a member of our team to assist you with registration into the NHIS Scheme.

We retain the email address you input in the newsletter form in perpetuity, until you unsubscribe from the service.

What rights you have over your data

You can request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. Also, note that we will not keep that data you submit through the Contact and Registration forms for over a month. However, your email address can be held in perpetuity when you subscribe to our newsletter service, until you chose to opt-out yourself.
