Removal of Dependants

An Enrollee can remove and replace their dependants with the following documents:

1. Typed or hand-written letter addressed to the Director General of NHIA, requesting for the removal of the dependants
2. Death certificate (in the case of death of spouse or child)
3. Divorce certificate (in the case of divorce from spouse)
4. NHIA NO

How to Add Dependents

Your Dependants are 1 spouse and 4 biological children all under the age of 18. You can add a dependant at the cost of Seven Hundred Naira (N700) per dependant. You can add or replace a dependant at any time; this is only possible after you have been registered into the scheme.

These are the steps to add Dependents:

1. Visit any NHIA office nearest to you to enroll your extra-dependant; go along with their passport photograph and their detail (date of birth, sex, phone number, etc.). NHIA will generate a REMITA code for your payment after filling in your details
2. After generating the code, pay to any bank, collect your teller and print-out
3. Go back to the NHIA office same day, with your NHIA number and the passport photograph of the extra-dependant you wish to add into the Scheme
4. Present your evidence of payment to them; wait for a 3-month processing timeline, then call Police HMO on 09061129318 for your enrolment status
5. NIN Slip

How to Add Extra-Dependants

Extra-dependant can be an additional spouse or the parents of an already existing enrollee and can be added by the enrollee with the sum of Fifteen Thousand Naira Only (N15,000) at any NHIA office nearest to them. This fee is renewable per annum.
